Astro 5.16 delivers experimental SVG optimization, smoother preview controls, improved agent support, and a collection of DX and performance enhancements.

Here’s what’s new in Astro 5.16:

• 🖼️ Experimental SVG optimization: Automatically compress and clean up SVGs using built-in SVGO support, reducing file size with no drop in visual quality.

• ⌨️ Interactive preview shortcuts: astro preview now supports hotkeys like o + enter to open in the browser and q + enter to quit, matching the dev server experience.

• 🤖 Better agent support: astro add --yes makes it easier for AI tools and automated scripts to install integrations without getting stuck on prompts.

• 🅰️ ActionInputSchema utility: Extract your action’s input schema as a TypeScript type for cleaner abstractions, reusable handlers, and better type inference.

• 📦 Lighter Netlify adapter: Updating @netlify/functions removes 310 dependencies and cuts 82 MB from the adapter’s dependency tree.
